Liana M. Gutiérrez Irizarry
Liana M. Gutiérrez Irizarry obtained her bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Puerto Rico and her law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Puerto Rico Law School. She clerked for two Puerto Rico Supreme Court Justices before joining the Firm’s Labor and Employment Law Department. Ms. Gutiérrez concentrates in labor and employment litigation and her practice includes employment discrimination, wrongful termination, wage and hour, retaliation, sexual harassment, violation of constitutional rights, defamation, and other employment-related contracts and tort claims, among other topics. She also provides preventive counsel and guidance in labor and employment law, including conducting internal investigations, company reorganizations, leaves and accommodations, company trainings, and preparation and revision of company policies and employee handbooks.
Ms. Gutiérrez represents management in labor and employment lawsuits in local and federal courts, both at trial and appellate levels. She also represents clients in administrative proceedings before local and federal agencies such as the E.E.O.C., the N.L.R.B., the P.R. Department of Labor, the P.R. Anti-Discrimination Unit, the P.R. Industrial Commission, the P.R. Office of Mediation and Adjudication, the State Insurance Fund Corporation, and the P.R. Bureau of Conciliation and Arbitration.
